Hanging succulents look fantastic inside a home, especially when they are placed on shelves hanging down furniture or planted in hanging basket hung from the ceiling.

Succulents can grow in garden soil planted in the garden. Better the soil quality, bigger and more beautiful succulents. Garden soil should not be used for potted succulents. Although they will tolerate it, they may not look and grow well.

Succulent tips and leaves turn red thanks to pigments in the leaves which get activated when a succulent is stressed by the environment or when the seasons change. This is usually entirely natural.

Succulents can die from too much sun. While many succulents are hardy and will survive full sun, even during heatwaves, some can die quite abruptly when exposed to full sun.

Rain can kill and rot some sensitive succulents but the great majority should be fine. Succulents prefer potting mix that dries out between watering, but they are unlikely to die purely because of rain. Keep them away from flooded gardens, heavy soil, pots without drainage or too much shade.

Aeonium arboreum easily propagates from cuttings of offsets. Leaf propagation may be possible but is very difficult. The majority of leaves will die before a ‘leafbaby’ emerges and, even if it does, it is unlikely to grow to a mature plant.
